Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) – Ukrainian national Bohdan Lohush was charged with bringing 1,367.70 grams gross of mephedrone, a Category I narcotic, into Bali, prosecutors said at Denpasar District Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Ni Made Suasti Ariani said in the indictment that Lohush carried 937 capsules and a package of white powder, which laboratory tests later confirmed contained mephedrone.
The case began when Lohush arrived at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on May 21, 2026, after traveling from Warsaw, Poland, via Doha, Qatar.
At around 7:30 p.m., customs officers Hafid Candra Wibowo and Gita Desisona spotted Lohush passing through a checkpoint with suspicious items and contacted the Bali Police Narcotics Directorate.
“He was subsequently taken to the Ngurah Rai Medium-Type Customs and Excise Supervision and Services Office,” Ariani said.
At around 10 p.m., Bali police narcotics officers searched Lohush’s belongings in the presence of two customs officers.
Inside Lohush’s white suitcase, police found two bottles containing capsules and another bottle filled with white powder.
One bottle labeled “ARG ARGININE” contained 440 capsules, while another labeled “AMIX” contained 497 capsules. A third bottle, marked “BIOTECHUSA,” contained white powder.
“The 440 capsules weighed 411.10 grams gross, or 281.60 grams net, while the 497 capsules weighed 500.60 grams gross, or 318.08 grams net. The powder weighed 456 grams gross, or 351.96 grams net,” Ariani said.
The total seized evidence amounted to 1,367.70 grams gross, or 951.64 grams net.
According to the indictment, Lohush said he bought tablets and brought the capsules and powder from Poland, believing they were supplements to support his sports and gym activities.
However, Criminalistics Laboratory Report No. Lab 906/NNF/2026, dated May 22, 2026, found the capsules and white powder tested positive for mephedrone, a Category I narcotic.
Police also seized an Oppo Reno 11F 5G smartphone, an Electronic Customs Declaration in Lohush’s name, and his boarding pass.
The prosecutor said the seized items were not intended for scientific or technological development.
Lohush was charged under Article 610 Paragraph (2) point a of Law No. 1/2023 on the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Law No. 1/2026 on Criminal Adjustments.
