Jakarta (ANTARA) – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka left Jakarta for North Sumatra on Friday morning to inspect temporary and permanent housing for disaster survivors, as well as infrastructure.
The vice president and his delegation departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta at around 5:15 a.m. local time.
The visit aims to ensure the construction of housing and facilities for disaster-affected communities is progressing as planned.
Reconstruction across three provinces affected by last year’s hydrometeorological disasters in Sumatra is being carried out by 30 ministries and agencies, with private-sector support coordinated by the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force.
As of August 8, 2026, the task force said 511 deep wells and 259 wells equipped with bathing, washing, and toilet facilities had been completed in Aceh.
Meanwhile, 6,706 hectares of lightly damaged rice fields had been optimized, while rehabilitation had been completed on 4,393 hectares of damaged rice fields.
Living allowances totaling 576.71 billion rupiah (US$32.7 million) had been distributed to 118,594 survivors. Of 18,916 temporary housing units built, 18,874 were occupied, while 309 permanent units were ready.
Central government transfers to local governments totaled 1.99 trillion rupiah (US$112.9 million). By July 16, 2026, 337.29 billion rupiah (US$19.1 million) had been used for 346 physical projects.
