Jakarta (ANTARA) – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inaugurated 76 members of the 2026 Heirloom Flag-Hoisting Troop (Paskibraka), who will serve at the flag-raising ceremony marking Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day anniversary at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on August 17.

“May God Almighty bless you with His grace and ease in carrying out your state duty,” he said during the inauguration ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta on Saturday.

Gibran served as the ceremony inspector, while a Paskibraka member from East Kalimantan, Julita Rista Lestari, served as ceremony leader.

The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, followed by the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), Yudian Wahyudi, leading the 76 youths in reciting the Paskibraka Pledge.

He instructed the ceremony leader to represent her comrades by holding the national flag in her right hand and resting it against her chest.

In their pledge, the Paskibraka members affirmed their loyalty to the Indonesian nation, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, the 1945 Constitution, and the national ideology of Pancasila.

They also pledged to contribute to building a just and prosperous society based on Pancasila values while respecting the nation’s cultural diversity.

Recognizing their prospects to become future leaders of Indonesia, the 76 youths pledged to uphold the spirit of independence and continue the nation’s struggle.

“Based on these statements and in the name of my honor as a cadre of the nation, I hereby promise my best to actualize this oath in my everyday life. May God Almighty bless my intention,” the flag raisers declared in unison.

The ceremony commander then kissed the national flag while holding it with both hands.

Following the oath, Gibran symbolically inaugurated the troop by pinning the Paskibraka badge and fastening the ceremonial sash before greeting each member.
