Jakarta (ANTARA) – Mastery of science and technology was highlighted as the key to a nation’s progress, as conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto to 150 researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) at the Presidential Palace on Thursday.
“We all understand that a nation’s development is determined by the capability in science and technology. A nation capable of mastering science and technology will advance rapidly. The key is science and technology,” the head of state emphasized.
According to him, mastery of science and technology depends on the quality of education. He therefore emphasized education as the foundation for developing high-quality human resources.
“Regarding the mastery of science and technology, education is certainly the most critical foundation,” he pointed out.
Prabowo also urged government officials and the research community to cultivate a work culture grounded in facts and reality.
He then noted that addressing every issue objectively is essential to finding effective solutions through scientific methods.
The President added that Indonesia needs more highly skilled individuals to accelerate the mastery of science and technology and boost the nation’s competitiveness.
This meeting marked the first time Prabowo invited BRIN researchers to the Palace to present their research achievements.
“I deliberately invited you to the Presidential Palace because I wanted to gain a general picture of the work you have accomplished at BRIN, even if it is not yet in great detail or fully comprehensive,” Prabowo said.
On the occasion, he also expressed his appreciation to the researchers and said he hoped to visit BRIN’s research campuses in the future.
During the meeting, BRIN showcased around 150–200 innovation products from 12 research clusters to President Prabowo.
BRIN Head Arif Satria said all of the products on display had undergone a curation process and represent a wide range of the agency’s strategic research areas.
“We have around 12 research clusters. After the curation process, we selected approximately 150 to 200 products,” he said.
The exhibits cover 12 research clusters, including food, energy, health, transportation, housing, space, aviation, nuclear technology, rare earth metals, as well as innovations supporting the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program and the development of fishing villages.
