Bali fuel queues ease as Pertamina boosts distribution

Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) – Fuel queues at gas stations across Bali have gradually eased following measures to address supply and distribution issues, including purchase restrictions and mobile fuel services, fuel distributor Pertamina Patra Niaga said.

“We have seen positive developments, with queues at several gas stations gradually improving,” Ahad Rahedi, the company’s communications, relations, and corporate social responsibility manager for the East Java-Bali-Nusa Tenggara region, said on Saturday.

He said the company was working with the provincial government, as well as local military and police units, to safeguard fuel delivery vehicles during distribution to gas stations.

Local security personnel have also helped provide fuel delivery services to speed up distribution to various parts of Bali. Introduced on October 15, the service allows residents with motorcycles to purchase up to three liters of subsidized Pertalite (RON 90) fuel per transaction.

Rahedi assured the public that Bali had sufficient fuel stocks to meet demand. An additional 48 million liters of Pertalite were scheduled for phased distribution from October 7 to 17, equivalent to about two weeks of supply under normal conditions.

Earlier, Bali Governor I Wayan Koster issued a circular introducing an island-wide odd-even system for fuel purchases based on the last digit of vehicle registration plates.

The measure was in effect from October 17 to 19 to ease pressure on gas stations across Bali. Under the directive, only vehicles with odd-numbered registration plates were allowed to refuel on Saturday, October 17, while vehicles with even-numbered plates could refuel on Sunday, October 18.

“Together with the Bali provincial government, we will continue to monitor queues and conduct regular evaluations to assess the measures’ impact on queue lengths, waiting times, and traffic conditions around gas stations,” Rahedi said.
