Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s House of Representatives formally approved Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto as the new national police chief during a plenary session on Thursday, succeeding General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
House Speaker Puan Maharani led the vote during the session following unanimous endorsement from Commission III, the parliamentary committee overseeing legal affairs.
“We ask for approval to appoint Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto as police chief. Is it approved?” Puan asked lawmakers, who responded with vocal approval to pass the appointment.
The plenary assembly also approved Commission III’s report regarding the honorable discharge of outgoing chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman presented the committee’s findings to the floor after holding a confirmation hearing earlier in the day.
The swift parliamentary proceedings followed an official letter sent by President Prabowo Subianto on September 30 requesting Listyo’s replacement.
During his confirmation hearing, Suyudi outlined his strategic vision titled “Polri Bersama Masyarakat” (Police with the Community), promising closer cooperation between law enforcement and local communities to maintain public safety and order.
