Karo (ANTARA) – Karo Regent Antonius Ginting said the 2026 Karo Flower and Fruit Festival (FBB), held from July 30 to August 1, successfully boosted the local economy while strengthening the district’s tourism sector.
“The three-day festival successfully promoted tourism while stimulating the local economy through increased tourist arrivals, higher MSME transactions, and wider promotion of Karo’s leading horticultural commodities,” Ginting said in Kabanjahe, North Sumatra, on Sunday.
Held under the theme “The Eternal of Karo Paradise – Pesona Abadi Tanah Karo,” the festival featured a variety of activities, traditional arts and cultural performances, business matching sessions, and other supporting events that attracted thousands of visitors.
Ginting said the successful organization of the 2026 Flower and Fruit Festival was the result of collaboration among all elements of the Karo community rather than the achievement of the local government alone.
“The success of this event is not the achievement of one or two individuals, but the result of cooperation and synergy among all members of the Karo community,” he said.
According to Ginting, the inclusion of the Karo Flower and Fruit Festival in the 2026 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program marked an important milestone in strengthening Karo District’s position as one of Indonesia’s leading tourism destinations.
He said this year’s festival served not only as a cultural celebration but also as a driver of tangible economic benefits for local communities.
During the event, hotel and accommodation occupancy rates increased, business transactions grew, local MSME products gained wider recognition, and Karo’s agricultural and horticultural products gained greater promotional exposure.
Although the festival has concluded, Ginting called on residents to maintain the spirit of collaboration in developing the tourism and agricultural sectors.
He also stressed the importance of preserving the region’s cleanliness, beauty, and hospitality to ensure Karo District remains a welcoming destination that visitors will want to return to.
“Keep up the enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing you again at the 2027 Flower and Fruit Festival,” he said.
