Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia and China have officially launched the Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue (CSD), a new bilateral platform designed to steer strategic cooperation across five key pillars.

The inaugural meeting, held at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Friday, covers politics, economics, maritime affairs, people-to-people relations, and security.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said the dialogue serves as a forward-looking platform to review ongoing initiatives, deepen collaboration, and identify strategic priorities for both nations.

“This meeting serves as a future-oriented strategic platform that guides the bilateral partnership across five pillars,” Sugiono said during his opening remarks, emphasizing the need to translate high-level presidential consensus into practical, mutually beneficial outcomes.

The meeting also launched discussions on the Indonesia-China Action Plan 2027–2031, which will succeed the current 2022–2026 Action Plan.

The introduction of the CSD aligns with key national planning cycles in both countries, including the implementation of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and Indonesia’s 2025–2029 Medium-Term Action Plan, which forms part of the national roadmap toward the “Golden Indonesia 2045” vision.

The CSD framework was first established during Sugiono’s visit to Beijing in April 2025 as a new bilateral mechanism at the foreign-minister level.

During the meeting, Sugiono expressed Indonesia’s sympathy over recent natural disasters in China, noting that shared global challenges underscore the need for a stronger bilateral partnership and mutual resilience.

Following the CSD session, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is scheduled to host the second meeting of the Indonesia-China 2+2 dialogue mechanism.

The 2+2 meeting, which brings together the foreign and defense ministers of both countries, will focus on advancing bilateral, regional, and security cooperation.
